We are pleased to announce a major milestone in our regional partnership efforts. Following sustained efforts by the International Affairs Office, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences (KUMS) has been officially included in the list of universities recognized by the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Dr. Elham Arkan, Head of International Affairs at KUMS, announced that, effective from the upcoming academic year, degrees awarded by the university in General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and other allied health sciences programs at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. levels will be officially recognized by the educational authorities of the Kurdistan Region, Iraq.
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Arkan highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the university, including the submission of updated documentation showcasing its educational and research capabilities, alignment with the evaluation standards of international accreditation bodies, enhancement of academic program quality, improvement of services for international students, and clarification of academic program status in close coordination with the relevant vice chancellors and departments.

Dr. Arkan described the recognition as a major milestone in advancing the university's internationalization efforts and attracting students from neighboring countries. She noted that KUMS currently hosts 609 international students across a wide range of academic disciplines and degree levels. Inclusion in the Kurdistan Region's list of recognized universities is expected to further strengthen the university's international profile and enhance its ability to admit international students.
She also emphasized that this accomplishment was made possible through the strong support of the University Chancellor and the valuable cooperation of the university's vice chancellors, particularly the Vice Chancellors for Education, Student and Cultural Affairs, and Research and Technology.
