Kermanshah Province Leads in Integrating Laboratories of Urban Comprehensive Health Service Centers:

The Western Regional Reference Laboratory is an innovative initiative that has been successfully completed with the unwavering support of the President of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. The integration of health laboratories in Kermanshah city has been carried out to improve the quantitative and qualitative level of laboratory services and to facilitate easy access for patients to these services. This action leads to optimal use of resources, facilities, physical space, and personnel, and prevents resource wastage. Kermanshah province is a leader in integrating laboratories of urban comprehensive health service centers, and the most up-to-date and accurate laboratory equipment has been collected in this laboratory through the efforts of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. According to the verification performed by the Pasteur Institute, Kermanshah was the first province in the country to independently achieve the ability to perform and review paraclinical tests for COVID-19 using the PCR method. This laboratory has the capability to perform and review paraclinical tests for common microbial diseases such as Salmonella, Shigella, and Cholera, as well as contagious and non-contagious infectious diseases. The Reference Laboratory of the Kermanshah Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs has achieved excellent ranking in the external evaluation program of the Supra-National Cell Laboratory of Sweden (Professor Hafner) for the past 11 years. World Health Organization (WHO) Project in the Form of an Advanced Laboratory Equipment Delivery Program: In line with the World Health Organization's (WHO) goals of updating laboratory equipment, advanced laboratory equipment was delivered to the Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences Reference Health Laboratory in two phases under the ICERP1 and ICERP2 programs, following visits and confirmation of the location and required standards. After the installation and commissioning of these devices, the process of confirming how these laboratory equipment were being used needed to be reviewed by WHO inspectors. Accordingly, the WHO representative, as part of the ICERP2 project, visited and evaluated the Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences Reference Health Laboratory on May 15th of this year. After a four-hour audit and thorough evaluation, all required standards were approved. This achievement is due to the tireless efforts and support of Dr. Shakiba, Deputy of Health Affairs, in allocating the newly established laboratory building, as well as the unwavering support and assistance of Engineer Konjouri, Executive Deputy, Head of Security, and Head of Administrative Affairs, Services, and Laboratory Affairs, and all the personnel of the Reference Laboratory and the Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences in establishing and updating this laboratory. Achievement of "Excellent" Ranking by the Reference Cell Laboratory of the Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs in the External Quality Control and Proficiency Testing Program of the Supra-National Laboratory of Sweden (Professor Hafner): It is worth mentioning that in the past 11 consecutive years, this laboratory has received "Excellent" ranking for 6 years, "Very Good" for 3 years, and "Good" for 2 years. Achievement of "Excellent" Ranking in the HIV Viral Load Proficiency Testing Program at the Ministry of Health. Achievement of "Excellent" Ranking in the Influenza Proficiency Testing Program at the Ministry of Health.
